Rode with Bedouin and Birdy this past week. Here is a video of one trip. Short and sweet.

Sure beats taking the bus, looks like fun, and a little intense. I took the bus to Athens from Tanagra, air base which is about 40 miles north if I remember right. I had a fun couple of weeks there back in 1978.

I was TDY from Camp New Amsterdam, Holland with F-15 fighters playing war games against our Navy. I was there to maintain the air to air weapons launch system, very little went wrong with the system, so we split up time off.

It's called filtering here and is legal as long as the speed is low. Good to see but even better to do, especially in rush hour.

The Victorian Government are finally talking about trialling Filtering here this year to aid traffic flow but they will keep lane splitting illegal....

We have another law here which other states don't have, we can park our bikes on the footpath legally and i think you can still have a pee on your horse and carts kerbside rear wheel too.....

Yes it is, and the scenery is beautiful ... but the roads are shit. They must of invented Teflon in Greece and used the roads to test it on because I've not ridden on more slippery (perfectly dry) roads in my life. (still wouldn't of missed going for the world though... just have to take it a bit slower than you might want)

Joe your right on slippery, I just never used my rears and you just have to treat the roads with due respect but in reality, I never got into any trouble, you watch the folks there the way they ride..clearly it seems worse than it is.

You did better than I did. I performed a rather interesting ice skating routine on fuel station forecourt at one point and had a few incidences of a wandering rear tire on a couple of turns.... still, beautiful riding. I only lament that on some of the back roads that Lee and I took you couldn't ride the curves are hard as they deserved being ridden. We found the roads in Southeast Italy to be surprisingly good and with good grip though.. so, we had some lazy riding in Greece and some spirited riding in Italy ... it was a good mix. Shame I wasn't in Greece to meet up with you on your recent visit Eddy.

Take care,

That was the light stuff there. The real "bombing" run was the 3 of us (Eddy, Lee/Birdy and myself) coming back from Sounion (not on video, unfortunately) with Lee on the Bonneville, Eddy on the Speedy and myself on a 1200GS. Besides, I was just testing Eddy's "metal" in Greek traffic That man can handle anything you throw at him!

... IN THE EVENING TRAFFIC ! ! !
... AT DUSK LIGHT ! ! !
... ON GLASS LIKE ROADS ! ! !

I kid you not - I have NEVER been so mentally tiered after the final 30 minutes of that ride...
You are living on an edge in that city!

I still don't know to this very day how that crotch-rocket guy stayed upright!
I just remember him B-L-A-S-T-I-N-G past us all - INTO A CONGESTED TRAFFIC LIGHT. When I say blasting - I'm talking speeds of 160+ kmph...

Eddy told me afterwards that he could feel him as he skimmed past him!

Mental...

It's certainly something that not at the top of my 'to-do-again' list!

Went to Athens in 2011 during the summer, would have been fantastic to ride out there but not sure i'd risk Athens traffic!!

Remember seeing a few bikes on the sea front boulevard and one in particular with the rider and 'passenger' riding lidless, that wasn't what really caught my attention, it was seeing the 'passenger' sat on the tank in a bikini facing the rider with her legs around him!!
